Mission
We are a leading organization in Peru and in the
Andean region, composed of a team of professional men and women who establish strategic alliances with basic social organizations, and with public and private entities, with the objective of promoting the application of strategies that are oriented towards the promotion of sustainable management of environmental and natural resources, and the protection of the health of the population.
Vision
We have
contributed to the construction of a society that applies
principles and technologies to promote the sustainable use and management of natural resources and the environment, reducing social inequities, promoting the application of cleaner technologies in industrial operations, in conjunction with strong States that protect the rights of the citizens, orientating the construction of responsible attitudes among the
citizens
Objectives
- Develop skills within basic social organizations that are linked to social and environmental
management.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of national, regional an local management of natural resources and the environment
- Develop and propose environmental solutions that are technically, economically and sociably viable for the distinct
realities of the country as well as the region.
- Develop attitudes of social and
environmental responsibility within public and private organizations.
Strategies 
- Realize studies, investigations,
projects and assessments in environmental, economical, social and institutional aspects. Attention is also given do health factors, the quality of life in urban an rural regions of the country and outside of the country.
- Support public and private institutions related to industrial activities, offering consultancy in the evaluation, identification and implementation of more environmental friendly technologies and encouraging the use of systems that prevent
pollution of the environment.

Giving guidance in the institutional fortification of local, regional an
national governments, encouraging the consolidation of democratic and transparent governments.

Giving guidance in the elaboration and development of environmental
norm setting, like in the definition of environmental policies that facilitate sustainable development.

Elaborate educational materials for training and raising awareness of the
community and the key actor in the field of environmental management.

Execute actions that stimulate the participation of the
community in the decision making process and actions that encourage sustainable development of low income population and that attack other social and
economical problems.

Spread the experiences of environmental management of
populations, private enterprises and realized investigations locally, regionally and internationally to enhance capabilities for sustainable development.

Coordinate with national and international research institutions the exchange of information and experiences.

Search the support of national and international, private and public entities for the implementation, executions and
diffusion of projects.
Our accomplishments
We have contributed to the construction of a society that applies principles and technologies that stimulate the sustainable management of natural resources and the environment, reducing social inequity. We have
furthermore encouraged the application of more environmental technologies in industrial operations and created a Peru that better protects the rights of its inhabitants, who have become more
responsible.
- We have helped to constitute 13
micro enterprises that generate permanent job functions to more than 150 persons over 20 cities in the country. The results of these
micro enterprises gives benefits to approximately 3 million inhabitants. The enterprises include recycling companies, fruit producers,
sanitary anvils, humus y compost processing plants.
- We solved the garbage problem in "El Cono Norte" de Lima by the implementation of a program of environmental management.
- We have collaborated in the formulation in the general law of solid waste and its regulation is in the moment of being produced.
- We have achieved to help organize informal reclyers (Association of independent environmental workers in the recuperation of solid waste).
- We have realized large cultural
campaigns of environmental sanitation with the participation of schools, teachers, and parents.
Who we are 
Today Ciudad Saludable has five official partners
Albina Ruiz Ríos - Executive Director
Industrial Engineer (UNI) with a masters in Ecological and Environmental Management (University Ricardo Palma). Having elaborated her tesis "Economic evaluation of environmental destruction by the inadequate management of solid waste". She moreover did a specialization study in "The Management of Hazardous Waste" at the University of Basel (Switserland) and a specialization study in "Local Management and Direction" at the University de la Rábida (España). She became Fellow of Ashoka Social Entrepreneurs 1996, and belongs to the best social entrepreneur at a global level (as elected by the Schwab Foundation). She was also elected leader of AVINA. She got this recognition due to the work she realized in the environmental field, more specifically in the field of solid waste management.

Since July 1999 till
September 1999, she fulfilled the role of Environmental
Counselor of the Environmental Program, participation and private
management of the SENREM project that was implemented by CONAM (ministry of agriculture). She counts with more than 15 years of experience with programs an projects of development and environmental management. She furthermore has experience in the management and
execution of consulting services with multidisciplinary team working for
institutions like USAID, FONCODES, CONAM, DIGESA, GTZ among others. She gave a serie of clases and workshops on the management of solid waste in a number of cities in Peru and outside of Peru. |

Gladys Elena Monge Talavera
Chemical engineer, graduated at the University
National Mayor de San Marcos de Lima, and has a masters in control of
environmental contamination at the University of Leeds (England). Specialization in: Evaluation of the Environmental Impact (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Argentina- UCA). Management of Urban and Industrial Waste (Compañía de Tecnología de Saneamiento Ambiental, CETESB-Brasil) Solid
Waste Management (Japón). Counts with 12 years of experience in the field of municipal, hospital an industrial waste). She has worked for the Enterprise Municipal Cleaning Services Lima (ESMLL),
fulfilling the function of director of investigation and quality control, Operations Management. She furthermore
fulfilled the role of residencial engineer and the
sanitary anvil "El Zapallal".

She has realized assessments about
municipal and hazardous waste in variety of countries in Latin America (Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador, Belice, Haiti and Cuba). She has also elaborated studies about the environmental impact of
sanitary anvil proyects in a number of cities in Peru: Suyo (Piura), Yurimaguas, Tarapoto, Cusco (San Jerónimo), Chimbote, Ayacucho. She
furthermore executed various consultancies for the demonstrative pilot project developed under the supervision of CONAM and USAID.

Oscar Espinoza Loayza
Industrial Engineer (UNI) and master of Ecology and
Environmental Management (URP). Specialization in
Exploiting Municipal Waste (Rosario, Argentina), Cleaner Production and Waste Prevention (Basel, Switzerland), Environmental Management in the Industry (Lima, Peru), Management of Integration and Sustainability of Solid Waste (Costa Rica) Over 10 years of experience in 1) design, development, negotiation and monitoring of environmental projects; 2) investigations related to the management and
exploiting of waste; 3) consulting in the field of environmental management of waste for international entities and for public and private sector in Peru; 4) giving training and raising environmental awareness in firms, local governments and higher education; 5) the design and development of technical environmental norm
setting for the management of solid waste; 6) in the development of publication with themes like: Recycling of
Plastic, Recycling of Textiles and recycling from the source in firms, offices and
organizations.

José Carlos Rodríguez Sánchez - President
Licensed in Psychology - Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (1996), with a masters in Organizational Psychology at the University Ricardo Palma.
Licensed in Social Planning of Local Development (School of Social Planning - Chile) and in the management of the project of the DSE (Berlín, Germany). Counts with 11 years of
professional experience, coordinator of projects in the program APGEP SENREM SPDA-USAID, Carl Duisgberg Gesselchaft e.V.; InWEnt (Peru, Ecuador y Bolivia), Director of the program of local development of IPES.

He performed consulting services for the following organizations: DFID Perú, OIT in Bolivia, GTZ, DED in Perú and Bolivia, PACT Perú, GTZ, ANC, ILLA, PAIS, ADELH, NGOs Misión de Basilea, TECNIDES, A. B. PRISMA, Vía Libre, IES, OACA, etc. The realized work was related to the direction and coordination of planning processes, design and proyect monitoring. It also included restructuring groups of workers into different operational levels in order to achieve effective communication at different levels. It finally also included implementing change processes and the management development in the organizations. |
