Ciudad Saludable currently has a Board of Directors formed by four members.

Luis F. Diaz – President

Luis Diaz Mr. Diaz is President of CalRecovery and has more than 30 years of experience in the waste management industry (including urban, industrial and hazardous waste). He has conducted several studies on solid waste management, technical and economic evaluations of waste processing systems, environmental analysis of resources collection systems and market researches about materials recovered and energy produced from waste. He has participated in several projects on waste processing for recovering materials and producing energy. His experience in waste processing technologies includes recycling, composting, co-composting, incineration, mechanical processes and anaerobic digestion. Luis Diaz is a regular guest in workshops, conferences and seminars at universities in several countries and has directed training courses on different types of solid waste management in South America, Europe, and Asia. He has worked in more than 40 countries and has been a consultant for the United Nations, World Bank, World Health Organization, Pan-American Health Organization and other international organizations as well as in the United States. He is co-author of 12 books and more than 300 articles about waste management. He is currently member of the editorial board of several scientific magazines and Editor-in-Chief of Waste Management (WM), an international magazine devoted exclusively to solid waste management published in Elsevier, Netherlands.

Adair Meira

Adair Meira Mr. Adair Meira is a businessman, social entrepreneur and militant of the environmental cause since 1994, when he created Fundaçao Pró-Cerrado, in Brazil. His experience includes several years as Secretary Director of Fundaçao Pró-Cerrado, as well as member of the board of several non-governmental institutions and of foundations such as Avina, Ashoka and Schwab Foundation, which encourage sustainable development worldwide. He was also a pioneer in environmental demonstrations as well as coordinator of the 1st National Environmental Education Conference held in Brasilia in 1997. Mr. Adair currently maintains and promotes several national social-educational and environmental programs for young people in social risk.

Roxana Barrantes Cáceres

Roxana Barrantes Mrs. Barrantes is an economist graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru with a Ph.D. from University of Illinois at Urban-Champaign. She has worked as an official and director of the Peruvian telecommunications regulation office (OSIPTEL) and has been a consultant for water and sanitation regulation offices, public transportation infrastructure office, Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) and other important national and international institutions. She is a professor at Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru and Universidad del Pacifico and has made several publications on economy and environment. Presently, she is a researcher and director of Instituto de Estudios Peruanos (IEP), President of the Seminario Permanente de Investigación Agraria (SEPIA), and member of the Comisión Dictaminadora del Consejo Nacional del Ambiente (CONAM).

José Luis Silva

José Luis Silva Mr. Silva is an expert in trade and promotion of Peruvian natural medicines and products with therapeutic purposes. He has more than 15 years of experience in business management in the pharmaceutical market both at the national and international levels. He has given lectures in different events related to biodiversity, bio trade, medicinal plants and environment. He is a habitual writer of articles aimed at the promotion of the consumption of local products in order to create job and development. He collaborates with newspapers and magazines in issues related to bio trade, job creation and the promotion of the development of the country. He has been broadly recognized as a business leader on sustainable use of natural resources and as a promoter of the enactment of the “Law for the Promotion of Nutritional Supplements for an Alternative Development” and “Law of Sustainable Use of Medicinal Plants”. He is also a recognized promoter of university-business in Peru as an enterprise whose parts make synergy with their efforts and share their managerial results; this kind of enterprise has been acknowledge as a source of sustainable development by CONAM (Comision Nacional de Medio Ambiente). Mr. Silva is currently President of the Asociacion de Exportadores del Peru (ADEX) and Deputy General Manager of Hersil S.A. (industrial pharmaceutical laboratories), President of Prosostenible S.A.C. and Past-President of the Instituto Peruano de Productos Naturales (IPPN).
